'Fall into Autumn' | My Beauty Picks

Since we are well and truly into Autumn now in Australia (or 'Fall' as I like to say when I forget I'm not American), I've started rummaging through my stash to bust out the more seasonally appropriate products that I tend to neglect during the other times of the year. Hello, mauve and plums!
Using these products has reminded me that we are indeed approaching Winter, despite the weather being bi-polar and thinking it's still Summer.

So I'd thought I'd share with you the products I usually turn to in the Autumn months. Of course, my essentials are used every day, no matter what season it is.

The Body Shop's Grapeseed Glossing Serum is a well-loved product of mine. I use it on a daily basis but for some reason, I seem to take care of my hair more during the colder months. I have this impression that my hair, like my skin, needs more TLC in the Autumn/Winter. This is an oil that I spread in the ends of my hair and it keeps it healthy and smooth. Unfortunately, I've run out so I may need to repurchase!

This Autumn, I've been finding myself being a bit more adventurous with my eye makeup. Being someone who doesn't use eyeliner as an everyday essential, I've been enjoying playing around with eyeliner a bit more.   The much loved Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner has been very user-friendly to use. I like how the tip isn't too flexible so I am able to achieve a somewhat straight line. The biggest plus of this product though, is that after a few seconds of allowing it to dry, it doesn't smudge everywhere when I open my eyes! #monolidproblems

Also, as part of my eyeliner experimentation, instead of the usual creamy white I put in my inner corners, I discovered that the Korres Eyeliner Pencil in Golden works well in brightening the lower lash line and has the ability to catch the light in a beautiful way. The pencil itself is soft and creamy and decently pigmented.

The Autumn season gives me a good reason to greet my warmer and more plum-toned eyeshadows. I've been enjoying this particular palette; the NYX Smokey Eyeshadow Palette as it contains a plum/purplish eyeshadow that complements brown eyes well. This palette also provides a matte white which I always appreciate and a light, neutral brown which makes it easy to achieve a full eye look just from one palette alone.

However, I am the type of person who can never stick to just one product for my eyes. You could call me a sort of "wanderer". And with the dozens of eyeshadows in my collection, this allows me to actually use what I (impulsively) buy. In conjunction with the NYX palette, I've been using the Arbonne Eyeshadow in Smoke* for the first time.

I've tried Arbonne shadows in the past and have been impressed with the quality so I knew I was going to love this shadow the moment I laid eyes on it. In my opinion, it is reminiscent of MAC's Satin Taupe, but maybe a shade lighter. It's soft and pigmented with a satin finish and taupe eyeshadows are just one of my absolute favourites.

What is makeup without blush? The ELF Studio Blush in Mellow Mauve and the Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Plum Wine are probably my favourite blushes for Autumn. Mellow Mauve is quite subtle but I do appreciate the peachy-mauve tones in an otherwise average blush. And of course you can't beat the price of ELF blushes (which are now available in Kmart, Yay!)

If I'm in the mood for a darker, more berry shade, I opt for the bouncy blush in Plum Wine . Fun application aside, this particular blush does a good job of warming up my complexion and the cream texture gives the cheeks a bit of a glow as well.

Everyone knows I'm a total lip junkie. As much as I love my MLBB's and neutral pinks, it's fun to mix it up a bit and try out a different lip colour once in awhile. When it's Autumn, I feel like I get less stares if I sport a darker, berry shade so occasionally, I reach for the Arbonne Lipstick in Jam*. I already have a review up on this super opaque and creamy lipstick. And darker lipsticks always make me feel more dressed-up (more Marilyn Monroe-esque). 

But for the rest of the time when I'm not as daring, I've been testing out the ELF Matte Lip Colour in Tea Rose. The name of this product baffles me as I don't really consider it 'matte'. It doesn't feel matte, neither does it LOOK matte. By no means is it super shiny, but I just see it as a creamy mauve-pink that requires a few layers to achieve full opacity on the lips.
