I Love Drugstore Makeup Tag

Who loves drugstore makeup?

I do! *raises hand*

So today I'll be doing the ...

I LOVE DRUGSTORE MAKEUP TAG!

1. What is your favourite drugstore makeup brand?

Revlon! I find the majority of their products are great, especially their face and lip products!
My second favourite would probably be Maybelline, because their products don't break me out :)

2. Favourite face, cheek and lip product?

Favourite face product: Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme foundation. This is the best foundation I currently own. It has great coverage and staying power.

Favourite cheek product: BYS blush in Candyfloss. I always go back to this blush, and it is a wearable, pretty light pink shade with subtle shimmers.

Favourite lip products: Revlon Lip Butters and Maybelline baby lips!
Baby lips are my favourite lip balms ever and I love the Revlon lip butters in terms of pigmentation and moisturising-ness? (That's not a word.)

3. Least favourite product
I haven't mentioned this product before, but it was my first ever foundation that I purchased. I made the completely wrong choice in terms of colour match and my mother seemed to think it matched me too. Er...

It's the Covergirl Clean foundation in the shade 140 Natural Beige.

The shade name LIES! IT LIES! It is anything but natural beige. It's too dark and orange.
It also has a disgusting paint-like scent.
I don't even know why I still have it... it's literally 3 years old! Oops.

4. What is the best makeup bargain?
Essence in general is the best makeup bargain brand, in my opinion. The quality and price is great. Nothing exceeds $10. Their gel eyeliner is amazing and their single eyeshadows have good colour payoff.

Another brand that isn't available in Australia (sadly) is the famous Wet n Wild. Ever since getting my hands on the Silent Treatment trio, I absolutely agree with everyone else in saying that the quality is AMAZING! And so affordable. (but does anyone else struggle with opening it?)

5. Favourite underdog product (product you love that often gets overlooked)?

The Revlon Super Lustrous lip glosses have an amazing formula and I love the shade Coral Reef which doesn't seem to get mentioned a lot.

6. A drugstore product that is overpriced
Revlon, the brand in general, is overpriced. Their foundations are $30+ and the lip butters are $21.95. But then again, everything is overpriced in Australia *sobs*.

7. Show your best drugstore dupes

Just a warning, I don't think I'm great with identifying dupes and I also don't own much high-end makeup to compare them with.
The following dupes are all for shades in the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette (LOVE!) and in all cases, the Urban Decay eyeshadows have better colour payoff.

Not exact dupes, but close enough I hope.

8. Drugstore product that isn't worth the hype
I can expect many of you to start getting your pitchforks out to attack me through the computer screen but I think the Maybelline Color Tattoos aren't worth the hype. I'm just not a fan of the formula, they aren't very creamy (I prefer the Benefit creaseless cream shadows) and the colour payoff on "Too Cool" is poor.

Sorry for the lengthy post!
Hope you enjoyed reading ^_^

Sheri

  5. I really want to try a revlon foundation but Im horrible at matching shades to my skin and I don't want to waste $30+ haha.
I won't get my pitchfork out because I agree with too cool, it's not worth the hype but Bad to the Bronze is amazing! Well to me anyways :P

  6. I too adore drugstore makeup! I definitely want to try Revlon Colorstay - maybe when it's on sale or I can find it cheaper. I'm not sure whether to get the liquid or whipped version though!

  7. You got me really wanting to try the Revlon Whipped Creme foundation now! I agree that not all the Maybelline Color Tattoos are created equal and the Revlon Super Lustrous lip glosses are underrated. You found great dupes for shades from the Naked2 palette :)

  9. Yep, I pretty much agree with almost everything you've said. Revlon is my favourite drugstore brand but it's so expensive! Oh and yes, Essence products are the best beauty bargain! :) x

  11. I didn't love the Maybelline Color Tattoos either. They creased on me so I have to wear a primer underneath them, I don't think they're really worth the extra step!
