HOW I FADE MY ACNE SCARS

how to fade acne scars

First, there's the struggle of trying not to pick a breakout with your itchy fingers. Then, they leave their calling card - dark, red scars that take ages to go away. The struggle never ends I tell ya. *inaudible sobs*
During the past year, I've been incorporating THREE things into my everyday skincare routine, and I can definitely say that there has been a great improvement in the overall texture of my skin, as well as the fading of some scars that have been around for forever!

Exfoliate
Yes, this comes back to those stem cell thingys your Grade 12 Biology teacher droned on about. It actually makes so much sense as the key to repairing old scars is to allow fresh, new skin to grow. Enter: the exfoliator. After months of regular exfoliating, I can definitely see how it has sped up the process of fading my acne scars! But be gentle, and don't over-exfoliate, or your skin will seriously start to resemble a sunburn. The ones I recommend are the Biore Pore Unclogging Scrub and the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant*.

Use Rosehip Oil
Ah, the product that totally revolutionized my misconceptions of putting oils onto my face. If you take anything away from this post, it is ROSEHIP OIL. It alone, has probably faded my scars the most. If you compare my skin from earlier on this year to now, my scars are significantly lighter. Plus, it really improves the overall texture of your skin. Say hellooo to baby's bottom! Rosehip oil has honestly saved my skin, and I know many of you are rosehip oil converts as well!
I like to mix in two drops of rosehip oil with my moisturizer (or the Rosehip Plus Hydrating Day Cream* has it all in one). For the ones I would recommend, see below.

Be Patient
Now I see you rolling your eyes at this third point, but none of these methods/products would have worked if I hadn't kept at a consistent routine and gave it time to work its magic. After months of frustrations, tears and 'oh my gosh I can't even look at myself anymore', I really started seeing results and this was after at least 6 months. If you maintain your skin as well as you procrastinate (hello comrade), I promise you will start to see a difference in your skin.

Rosehip Oils I would Recommend:
Kosmea Rosehip Oil* $24.95 / 20ml
ECO. Pure Rosehip Oil* - $18 / 15ml
Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil - $21.95 / 20ml
Rosehip Plus Rosehip Oil* - $19.95 / 30ml

Now all I need to do is figure out how to stop new spots from appearing and making more scars! Let the battle continue.
