"A Kiss of Colour" with Burt's Bees Lip Products [Overview]

My first experience with Burt's Bees was with one of their original minty lip balms, and Oh My Goodness, it stung my lips so bad and my lips felt like they were on fire. (This girl is on fire~...)

But I have seen other people with good experiences with Burt's Bees and I do like how natural this brand sounds, so I was very interested in trying out some of their lip products.

First up, their TINTED LIP BALM! (RRP AUD $14.95)

There are 9 shades available on the Australian website and I have the shade Rose.

Initially, it comes in a chunky tube like this...

... to reveal the actual lip balm inside!

I was impressed with the pigmentation of this lip balm. I'm too used to lip balms claiming to be "tinted" and then provide no colour whatsoever. By no means is this one EXTREMELY pigmented but it does add noticeable colour to the lips and Rose is a natural, berry shade.

Burt's Bees lip balms contain Shea Butter, Vitamin E and "soft flower waxes", which would explain why I found this to be quite moisturizing!

Next up is the Burt's Bees lip shimmer in Rhubarb. (RRP AUD$9.95)

I would say this is equally as moisturizing as the lip balm in Rose. I was expecting this to be packed with shimmers as it is called a "lip shimmer", but was pleasantly surprised to discover that the shimmers are very subtle.

Boy, does this pack a punch of colour! The lip shimmer is super pigmented, much more than the tinted lip balm and you do have to be careful when applying.

Rhubarb is a 'fuchsia, with a hint of plum' sort of shade and because it has such great colour pay-off, it can accentuate lines or flakiness on the lips, so be sure to exfoliate!

The lip shimmer also has a noticeable minty scent, while others don't have a noticeable scent.

The last lip product from Burt's Bees I have to share is their lip gloss! (RRP AUD$16.95)

I have it in the shade Ocean Sunrise which is a pale, shimmery, milky pink.

This too, is formulated with Beeswax, so also provide decent moisture to the lips.

The formula is interesting. It's tacky and thick but not so sticky that it's a pain-in-the-derriere whenever you press your lips together. Because it's tacky, it lasts an impressively decent amount of time; longer than a typical lip gloss.

Ocean Sunrise is a very pretty pale pink shade, but may wash some people out. I've been loving layering this over other lip products to add a pearliness and shine to them.

Overall, I am really impressed with how moisturizing Burt's Bees products are. They have good pigmentation and the natural ingredients that are within just make them even better.

Definitely recommend checking any of these out, there are plenty of shades to choose from!

By the way, I am currently sitting for my final exams so I may not be able to have posts up for the next 3 weeks. Wish me luck and I'll see you all when I finish. :)

xoxo,

Sheri

  4. I've always wanted to try the Burt's Bees tinted lip balms, but never looked up reviews for them, I don't know why. But I love the sound of the rose one, and I love that it's not TOO pigmented. Thanks for the review! And also, the colour Rhubarb suits your skin tone well!
