The Lip Product Addict Tag

I was recently tagged by the beautiful Sophie in the Lip Product Addict Tag. Once I read the title, I knew this was a tag I had to do as lip products are probably my ultimate makeup obsession. Although my addiction has sort of reached a 'plateau' where I have not been buying as many new lip products (because I feel like I have everything I would need on a daily basis), I still love a lot of the ones in my collection and others... not so much.

1. Favourite balm/treatment?

These two products are what I alternate between as my night-time lip saviours. The Korres Lip Butter in Jasmine definitely lives up to its hype. It smells amazing and is super moisturizing. The Nivea Lip Butter in Vanilla and Macadamia, while a controversial product, is something I still enjoy using, as it provides a thick layer of moisture to my lips. I don't mind the fact that it just sits on the lips and kind of just feels like wax, though I know a lot of people who do.

2. Best eye catching red?

Although this particular lipstick is pretty new to my collection, I already know that it is one of my favourite red lippies. The Maxfactor Color Elixir lipstick in Ruby Tuesday* is a flattering red that is suitable to my skintone and preferences as it has strong hints of pink in it. It isn't a scary, bold red and can also be sheered out to create a just-ate-a-cherry sort of effect.

 3. Best luxury and best drugstore?

Light pinks are my absolute fave when it comes to lip products, so it is no surprise that my favourites for this question are MAC's Creme Cup and the Maybelline Color Whisper in Petal Rebel. Both are wearable, cool-toned pinks that I can't seem to stop gravitating towards. They are both on the sheer side which I prefer for everyday wear.

4. Best MAC lipstick?

I already answered this in the previous question but for variety's sake, I also really like the MAC lipstick in Crosswires which I reviewed here. It is a fun, bright coral shade that is still very much pink, making it easy to wear. I actually love all the four MAC lipsticks I currently have and can't wait to expand my collection.

5. The most disappointing?

After hearing much hype about this specific lipstick in the Aussie community, I ended up owning the Face of Australia Lip Quench Lipstick in Lychee Crush. While it looks and swatches like a beautiful nude pink, it unfortunately does not mix well with my skintone and washes me out, despite me being at the pale end of the scale. Also, it just smells like makeup (like pressed powders) and reminds me of a "grandmother's lipstick" sort of scent.

6. Liner - Yes or No?

It depends. If I want my lip colour to last particularly long that day, I will pop on a lip liner underneath. But I am way too lazy to incorporate it into my everyday makeup routine. I also don't own very many so they tend to get buried under my more loved lip products.

7. Best gloss?

I much prefer lipsticks over lip glosses but I do think Revlon makes pretty great lip glosses. The Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Coral Reef is an oldie but a goodie. The Napoleon Perdis Luminous Lip Veil in Pretty in Peach* is probably one of my favourite lip glosses of all time due to its beautiful peachy pink shade, non-stickiness and its amazing lychee scent.

8. And something extra!

I'm choosing the L'oreal Shine Caresse Lip Stains as my 'something extra' because they don't quite fit into any lip category as they are a bit of a hybrid between a gloss and a stain. But, they do have a special place in my heart due to the fact that I love to top off any lip colour with these and it would make them last for the whole day. I know there are mixed reviews regarding these but in my opinion, these are a hit.

And those are some of my lip products! Doing this tag and rummaging through my drawers made me realize how my obsession has really grown over the years. Thanks again for tagging me Sophie!
