You know what I do when I have a red lip on? Take a bunch of selfies that never see the light of day. But now that it is officially holiday season (and Christmas is just a week away say what!?), it is completely justifiable to strut around in your favorite classy red lip. Red lipsticks always seem to make me feel like a posh, rich person who's about to have afternoon tea with the queen while walking our poodles. (Or you know, have a date with Mr. Bond.) Luckily, I have FIVE amazing red lip products in my collection that are perfect for this time of year.
Max Factor Color Elixir in Ruby Tuesday
Hm, this is quite possibly my favorite red lipstick... ever? *gasp* It's pink-based, which makes it so wearable and its satin finish means it wears well and even leaves a bit of a stain. It's what I'm wearing in my sidebar picture if you were wondering *wink*
Candy Apple is definitely the most comfortable to wear out of the bunch. It's more orange-based and is sheer and moisturizing; common traits of the lip butters. It's the first thing I would recommend to those just venturing into the red territory.
Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer in Rhubarb
If you're a tinted balm kind of person (and I mean very tinted), this one by Burt's Bees is great for throwing into your handbag and applying on the go. It's glossy, a pigmented berry-red shade and has the feel of a lip balm. It's also minty! Win.
Burt's Bees Lip Crayon in Redwood Forest*
For those who'd rather not go for the traffic light reds, Redwood Forest is a brown kind of red that can ease you into the world of Cruella Deville (just realized her name literally is 'Cruel Devil' *mind blown*). It has a matte finish that surprisingly doesn't feel like it at all and despite the dark colour, it's actually pretty wearable and neutral - yay!
L'oreal Infallible 2-Step Lipstick in Resolution Red
They call this a 2-step lipstick, but really, it's a gloss on one side and a balm on the other which adds even MORE shine. All I can say about the colour is - Whoa Mama! It sets comfortably and isn't sticky afterwards. One thing though, is that it tends to separate and get a bit 'watery' looking (?) so I wouldn't really call it long-wearing. Also, it can be a bit of a challenge to apply and you might want to line your lips first, especially if you're like me and still can't colour within the lines.
