THE MAKEUP REMOVAL PROCESS

makeup removers

As much as I love makeup, wearing it for too long can sometimes feel a bit stifling. After all, our skin is a living organ, and I always get paranoid that my skin is suffocating under all the makeup (probably is). I don't know about you, but the moment I get home I rush to the bathroom and remove my face. Er, I mean my makeup. The refreshed feeling afterwards is seriously a whole new kind of freedom.

1. Wipes
Some people would call these "a lazy girl's best friend". Is it weird that I actually forget to use makeup wipes and jump straight to makeup remover? Recently, I've been loving the Dermalogica Precleanse Wipes*. Not only do they smell good, but they actually leave my skin feeling somewhat clean. (I'm sure we've all tried those bad wipes that leave an icky residue and make your skin feel downright disgusting.) I'd say it doesn't remove makeup as well as other wipes (eg. Kmart's Beauty Care Co ones) but it's pretty decent and unlike many others, it doesn't irritate my sensitive skin and cause little bumps to appear. Huzzah!

2. Makeup Remover
I actually only started using a proper makeup remover this year (previously, I used to just double-cleanse) and wowie does it make a difference to my skin and the amount of breakouts I get. I currently use the Phytolene Multi Pre-cleanse and I'm positive my heart will break the moment I run out of this (it's almost there, I shall say my farewells soon). It's so gentle, yet is incredible at breaking down all makeup, including waterproof mascara. I've only seen it in Singapore, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do with myself after it runs out.

3. Cleanse...and cleanse again.
The trusty Sukin Foaming Facial Cleanser makes its appearance yet again. If you're new here, I'll just tell you now that this is my HG cleanser. I use it last to remove any final traces of makeup and then I cleanse my skin thoroughly afterwards. It's the perfect cleanser for sensitive skin and leaves my skin feeling clean but not tight. Forever a favorite.
