Maybelline Superstay Concealer [Review]

Do you suffer from blemishes/spots/scarring?

Then you would understand what I'm talking about when I say it can get a bit tedious to apply layer upon layer of foundation just to cover what you need to cover.

I decided to try using a concealer on top of foundation so that I used less of my foundation.

This led me to picking up this bad boy:

Maybelline Superstay 24Hr Concealer

Price: AUD $14.95
I have it in the lightest shade Cream.

It has a doe-foot applicator (isn't the word 'doe-foot' cute?).

The shade Cream itself is warm-toned and can pull a bit orange on me (due to my super pale-ness) but when blended, you can't tell the mismatching of colour.

Like the Superstay Foundation, it has a matte finish so I do not recommend applying it under the eyes as it could cake up.

It has a thick, creamy consistency so even more reason not to use it under the eyes as it will be too heavy.

But, due to it's thick consistency, it has amazing coverage! Not many concealers can cover up the multitude of acne/scars on my face but this concealer CAN, due to it's medium to full coverage. =D

Feast your eyes on the evidence below!
[WARNING: You are about to get up-close and personal with the two-pimple party on my chin.]

BEFORE

AFTER

As you can see, it covered up my pimples really well! It doesn't give the most natural look but I really don't care, considering my acne spots are now invisible!

Besides the coverage, the other aspect of this concealer that really had me impressed was the staying power. I couldn't test it's "24HR" claim but it lasted easily up to 8-10 hours on me and I was pleased to see everything was still in place and covered at the end of the day.

It also did NOT break me out.

Overall, I'm really happy with this concealer and have been loving the flawless look it gives me when applied on top of my foundation.

  1. Thanks for the review! This sounds like a decent concealer, I might have to give it a go as I too have pesky blemishes and scarring.

  2. I use the foundation version of this and I love it, although it's like the concealer where it's not extremely buildable, a little cakey. Nonetheless amazing coverage! And I agree, I think it does give an orange-ish tint!

  3. Looks like a good concealer! I've pretty much tried every Maybelline concealer out there except for this one since people said it was hard to remove.

  4. I love how well it covered! It really covers redness well. I hate when concealers don't cover all the redness! Drives me crazy haha. I may actually buy this one, I need a high coverage for my spots and I haven't found one that I love yet! Great review - the before and after shot was great :)

  8. Looks great! I might have to check this one out, although I don't use concealer that much these days, I do have redness I'd like to get rid of sometimes!
    Good review Sheri! xx

  9. I have this concealer as well and it works wonders! But I do agree with you when you say it doesn't look natural. If you use too much of this you will definitely find yourself looking 'cakey'!

  10. Seems like this has excellent coverage and lasting power, two things that you always want in a concealer :) The shade is a pretty good match too! Will need to check these out next time I'm at PL or Chemist Warehouse :)

  11. Glad to hear it has a matte finish because I probably would have bought this intended for under neath my eyes. It has great coverage but I can see you would need to do it in light layers to avoid cakeyness.

  12. I've been on the lookout for the perfect concealer for ages! This one looks great- the coverage is amazing! I always find that concealers I use don't tend to do their job, and redness peeks through which I hate! I usually pop concealer on after foundation too, I find it strange why people put it on before foundation.

Maybe it's just too matte for some people :(
