I've always been drawn to Asian cosmetics. Let's face it, their packaging really is the best. And being an avid Youtuber and blogger, more and more asian brands have been popping up here and there and piquing my interest. I'm a big fan of Asian BB Creams and honestly believe majority of Western BB creams cannot hold a candle to them.
I'd previously heard of BornPrettyStore - a website specializing in asian cosmetics, so when they offered to let me review some, I was immediately interested.
The first thing I was sent is the Kiss Beauty Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner (USD$5.39)
Aside from the name's striking similarity to the Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner, the next thing that struck me was the packaging. They're housed in a clear plastic tub with an adorable bejeweled/crystal looking lid. It may look a bit cheap and childish to some, but the inner girly-girl in me loves it.
As a neutral makeup sort of person, I knew I was going to use the black most often but a navy blue eyeliner was something I didn't already own and was looking forward to playing around with.
Let's just say that I was very pleased with the quality of the black eyeliner. Both of the gel eyeliners had soft, clay-like consistencies. They are both very creamy and applied very smoothly. However, what set them apart was the pigmentation.
The blue eyeliner had a weird pay-off where it reminded me of watercolours (you know the one you used to paint with as a kid?) Every time I tried to go over the blue eyeliner, it removed itself and made it look thin and runny.
The black eyeliner on the other hand, had amazing pigmentation and was super black and opaque.
On the packaging, it does claim that they are smudge proof and waterproof. Of course, I had to put that to the test. In both the smudge test and the water test, the blue smudged. I think this is because it never really set properly which I found strange, as the black one performed impressively under water and smudging.

The other item I received from BornPrettyStore is a product that had me showing off to my family and friends.
It's this cute lip balm shaped like a crayon! I'm not quite sure of the brand but on the website, it's called Candy Colors Clear Lip Balm (USD$2.45).
I am pleased with the moisture this lip balm provides. Adorable packaging aside, it has a waxy texture that's similar to the EOS lip balms but way more moisturizing. I also think it's equally as cute as the EOS lip balms and very affordable at under $3. If you're searching for a cute lip balm to take around and shock people when you whip out a crayon from your bag, look no further!
As for the service of BornPrettyStore.com, delivery took 2 weeks as expected and customer service was reasonably fast and friendly. They also offer free shipping worldwide!
I also have a 10% Discount Code for my readers if you're interested: SHEH10
These products were kindly provided for consideration, however all opinions expressed are 100% honest.
thats a cute lip balm tube, i didn't expect it to be lip balm!

I find gel eyeliners quite fiddly so I rarely reach for them, but I have to say the lasting power of them is definitely superior to pencils. It's strange the blue one seemed a bit watery and the lasting power wasn't there compared with the black. But I guess black would be the more popular colour of the two :)
ReplyDeleteoooo i dont konw about those gel liners. i thin the MAC and some drugstore ones do much better than those at the same price. i like how they tried to go with a Jill Stuart packaging look though.
