Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation [Review]

When I heard the much raved about
Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation had finally come to Australia, I pretty much peed in my pants from excitement.

From what I've heard/seen, it seemed like a foundation that I would really like so I immediately high-tailed to my nearest Priceline.

This foundation retails for AUD $19.95, which is a pretty reasonable price in my opinion but Covergirl is often on sale anyway. I grabbed mine on sale for $13.95 - score!

One thing I wasn't impressed with was the limited shade range. There were only about 5-6 shades, the lightest being way too pink for me, so I picked up the lightest yellow-toned shade which is 825 Buff Beige. Besides the light pink-toned one, the other shades looked kind of dark so some people will struggle to find a good match.

825 is a bit too dark for me, but what else is new with my fair complexion.

It comes with a PUMP - YES! You go Glen Coco - I mean Covergirl (Comment if you get that reference!)
I really like how it's one of those pumps that has a lock mechanism, so when you twist it to the left, it locks so no spillage occurs. Nifty!

825 Buff Beige
The consistency is more on the thicker side but it's not super thick, so it's still easy to work with and blend.

I apply this foundation by either buffing it in with my handy-dandy Real Techniques buffing brush, OR by patting it in layers to conceal my problem areas.

THE COVERAGE TEST:
This is the factor which makes or breaks a foundation for me. It must have good coverage, at least medium so I can build it up to achieve flawless coverage.

My cheek is also plagued with many acne scars to give you a good indication of the coverage. ;)

BEFORE

AFTER

As you can see, it does a pretty good job in terms of coverage. It definitely covers redness, although some of my spots are peeking through. However, when layered, it can easily achieve full, flawless looking coverage.
I would describe it as medium coverage and I'm pretty satisfied with it.

This foundation does have a matte finish so if you go overboard with layering, it will look too cakey and matte. When my skin is on the drier side, I find it doesn't look too flattering on but at least it doesn't make me oily.

In terms of longevity, this foundation wears pretty well, and starts to look less than perfect after 8 hours. I do believe that compared to Revlon Colorstay and Colorstay Whipped, Revlon still fares better in terms of staying power.

This foundation also doesn't feel like it's clogging my pores as much as Revlon Colorstay.

The Break-Out Test
Did this foundation break me out?  I'm glad to say that NO it did not! So sensitive-skin people,  you can breathe a sigh of relief!

Overall, I'm really happy with this foundation! I can definitely see why it is one of the more popular drugstore foundations. The coverage, the no-breakout factor and the affordable price point makes it even better.

I definitely recommend this foundation if you're looking for a good drugstore one to try. :)

  9. Wow, I'm really liking the great coverage and how it doesn't look cakey! The absolute last thing I need is more foundation but I have to say this offering does look impressive and tempting :)

  10. Great color match and it does look like a decent medium coverage without being uneven. I think maybe the next step is some thicker creamy concealer on top if you want full coverage on your blemishes! Nowadays I just use concealers all over! Just thicker on my spots!
