If you're a familiar face around here, you would know that I'm constantly harping on about my acne. And dry lips. By dry, I mean I could probably grate cheese or file nails with them. Not only are they dry, but super uncomfortable. Have you ever tried wearing lipstick on top of dry, flaky lips? It kinda looks like a snake shedding its skin (do NOT google image that).
Naturally, I've come to own an abnormally large amount of lip balms to help combat the transformation of my lips into sandpaper. And as with everything, there are the obvious stand-outs in my collection.
The Ones with the Aesthetics
Aww, just look at you itty-bitty, cute, round egg things. The EOS lip balms are the definition of adorable. Even if you don't need lip balm, you should get a bunch of these just to store in a glass bowl as room decor. They're not the most moisturising things in the world, and actually feel kinda waxy and redundant, but when you have as much fun as I do rolling them over your lips, you'll love 'em too.
The Ones that Actually Work
There's a reason why I only use the Korres Lip Butter in Jasmine and Subtle Energies Kewda Flower lip balm* at night. These are probably the most hydrating balms I own, so they're perfect for night-time. They seriously melt into your lips and you can just FEEL the difference instantly. Definitely worth having to dip your fingers in.
The One for Daytime
As someone who refuses to use a potted lip balm during the day (too lazy to unscrew the lid), the Maybelline Baby Lips in Quenched is perfect for quick and easy relief. There's just something about twist up lip balms that I love. Maybe because they remind me of those chapsticks we used as a kid (whoa #throwback). I'm particularly fond of the American Baby Lips because they're more firm and less likely to melt in a car, but the Aussie versions are good too.
The One that Smells Good
How could you resist a lip balm, more specifically, lip 'butter' that smells like the inside of a candy shop!? I seem to be taking forever to finish up the Nivea Lip Butter in Vanilla & Macadamia, but I honestly don't mind slathering on this sugary vanilla, sweet-smelling goodness all over my mouth. Psh, what do you mean it's thick and feels/tastes like vaseline? IT. SMELLS. SO. YUM.
