Gone are the days of my strong inclination towards matte foundations. No longer does my skin type require a powdery, oil-controlling base so my new love interest are the foundations that will help to achieve the glowing look. Naturally I was intrigued by the Maxfactor Skin Luminizer Foundation* that already suggests natural radiance in the name itself.
First off, the packaging is nice and compact and still offers the standard 30ml of foundation. I'm truly loving the fact that more drugstore brands are adding pumps to their foundations because it just makes rushed, groggy mornings just that little bit easier.
I'll get to the point. The finish is lovely - dewy, yet not overly 'glowy' that people would start to question why you're sweating during Winter. When blended on the back of my hand, I can spot a few bits of shimmer but unless someone gets all up in your personal space, it really is not noticeable. It can cover up some of my redness but requires some layering work to cover up blemishes. The buildable light-medium coverage is great for how comfortable it feels on the skin.
Up close, the finish looks very natural which I appreciate. Unfortunately, I find that any dry patches are accentuated and it also doesn't hold up as well as I would have liked it to. Towards the 6 hour mark, the foundation starts to do that dreaded thing where it goes patchy and separates in awkward places. Thankfully, my days aren't too long but this may be an issue for those seeking a long-wearing foundation.
I own the shade Light Ivory which is a slightly wrong tone for my more yellow-based complexion (my fault really) but is easily workable with the right shade of powder. I'm relieved to say that it didn't cause any new breakouts. Overall, I do really like the finish of this foundation and would recommend it but as with a lot of foundations, there are some cons, it just really depends on what you're looking for.
