Beauty Favorites | MAY

Another month has flown by, although to be honest it was hard keeping track of time this month due to the bombardment of mid-year assignments and the aftershock from my first ever Uni exam. After checking through my past posts, I realized that I had not been posting monthly favorites for three months now (oops) but I have honestly not been changing up my routine until I caved in and purchased some things to try out last month.

The Maxfactor Facefinity 3 in 1 Foundation* (AUD$31.95) was recently featured in my overview of Maxfactor cosmetics. You can check out my review post to read all the details but long story short, it has become my new favorite foundation. The main reason is due to the awesome color match and coverage.

Even if I do not change up the majority of my everyday makeup routine, there will always be the switching in and out of lip products. My lip product obsession is no secret and this month, I have been using the Essence XXXL Longlasting Lipgloss 'Matt Effect' in Velvet Rose (AUD$4.10). For a mere four bucks, you get a nice velvety, matte lip product and this particular medium pink shade is super easy to slap on for everyday wear.

My huge collection of lip balms meant that I had to force myself to put away my usual lip balms and whip out the Korres Lip Butter (USD$12) which I had always been itching to try. While sticking my fingers into a pot is not my favorite thing to do, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. I love the intense hydration this provides for my lips at nighttime and the smell is just lovely. The shade Jasmine is a nude pink that is barely there and can look a bit pasty sometimes but as I only use it at night, it isn't really a problem.

My under eye area was saved this month by several eye creams that I have been trying out but my personal favorite currently is the Optiva Radiance Boosting Eye Balm(AUD$22). It is light weight, yet provides enough moisture to the eye area. I have not yet seen results for the "radiance boosting" claim but perhaps this will come with continued use.

A new product that I have begun to incorporate into my skincare routine is the Maybelline Total Clean! Express Makeup Remover (AUD$3.47). A sudden bout of breakouts spurred this purchase as I figured it was about time I started removing my makeup properly and hopefully preventing more breakouts from happening. I found this makeup remover to be quite effective and it does not irritate my skin.

Unfortunately, my skin is still in crazy breakout mode and I simply cannot seem to eliminate several painful, cystic pimples that have popped up (or as my brother likes to call it - the 'pimp party'). If anyone has any recommendations/solutions to get rid of cystic acne, much help would be appreciated.

And those are the products I have been loving in May!
Have you tried any of these products? What have you been loving?

  1. The Essence lip cream sounds really awesome, I need to have a swatch of it instore! The Maxfactor foundation sounds awesome. I think it's the same as the Covergirl Outlast? I've heard heaps of good things about that one too.

  2. I've heard so many things about the Korres Lip Butters! Especially the jasmine and pomegranate kind. It's a good thing that you said that it can look a little too pale or else I would've probably bought it and look like a ghost. ^_^ Great post!

  7. I used to struggle with cystic acne and found that the combination of La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo + Mario Badescu Buffering Lotion clears my skin right up! Both are pretty affordable too which is awesome.
I've almost used up my Korres Jasmine - how good does it smell!?
