Clean and Clear Advantage Fast Clearing Spot Gel

If you read my previous review of a spot treatment I was trying out (here), you would know that I was frustrated at how persistent my breakouts were and how benzoyl peroxide was just not doing it for me.

I decided to go back to the past of 2012 when I used to use salicylic acid as my trusted pimple-buster and picked up one of the few ones I could find - Clean & Clear Advantage Fast Clearing Spot Gel. I was actually surprised at the degree to which benzoyl peroxide spot treatments were overtaking the shelves. 

It claims to be "oil free", "won't clog pores" and "reduces pimple symptoms from 4 hours". To be honest, I didn't have high expectations of this (my pimples never clear up that fast) and the tiny tube that came in the box didn't impress me further.

It comes in a clear gel and you only need a small amount for the pimple so I suppose the small size of the tube doesn't matter so much.

Being a teenager and having skin that is sensitive to anything and everything, I was lucky enough to have 2 lovely pimples that had emerged on the surface of my forehead and cheek. The one on my cheek was also one of those that was NOT under the skin but was equally as painful as those cystic ones. (It emerged from an old acne scar. Ugh! Does that ever happen to you?)

I applied the treatment twice daily until the breakouts vanished.

Overall, I was really happy with the effectiveness of this product. My breakouts usually take weeks to clear up and this worked quite fast, in comparison to everything else I have tried. 

I was also pleased that it did not dry my skin out and it also decreased the redness left behind by the pimple. 

I would definitely recommend it! Welcome back to my life, salicylic acid!
