Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream [Review]

I've heard a lot of things about the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream , so when it was finally released in Australia, curiosity got the better of me and I had to try it for myself.

I have it in Light as I thought Fair was too pink for me. In Australia, we have it in Fair, Light and Medium.

RRP $15.95

It claims to be an "8-in-1" BB cream and here are its claims...

I tend to ignore BB cream claims nowadays as it's getting increasingly ridiculous, like Rimmel has a "9-in-1" BB cream. -.-

I think the packaging is cute and appeals to childish people - like me! :D

It comes in a squeezy tube, which is good as the consistency is on the liquid, runny side.
Light is slightly too dark for me but it blends easily into the skin so it isn't noticeable.

I apply it like a moisturizer and use my fingers to blend.
It smells like sunscreen which I don't mind. I prefer sunscreen smell over intense-floral scents :P

Coverage-wise, I didn't expect superb coverage and sure enough, it has light coverage [refer to photos below]

BEFORE

APPLIED

AFTER

My acne scars are clearly still there, although the redness has reduced somewhat and my skin tone has been evened out.

It has a nice, dewy finish which I like and it's not greasy.
It's very lightweight, I can't even feel it on. When it has set, it feels soft to touch.

I didn't notice any oil controlling happening although I feel that it made my nose a bit oilier.

Overall, I think this is a good product for those who don't require much coverage and just need to even out their skin tone. A concealer is definitely needed for spots and acne.

Rating: 3/5

What do you think about the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB cream?

  1. I got one of these before they were launched in Australia but I never really got around to trying it... I wasn't a fan of the smell but I've never really like BB creams that much anyway.

Great to see a review as I don't think that these have been as big of a hit here as it's been in the US who have more shades available to them than to us.

  2. Sounds like a good enough product, it seems to have all the qualities BB creams are supposed to. How do you think it is as 'brightening' and 'enhancing'?

    1. It has a dewy finish so it does brighten but I wouldn't say it really "enhances", because I consider something enhancing if it covers my imperfections and makes me look more flawless :)

  3. When I first got my hands on this last winter I was totally obsessed with it - but now that it's summer I don't reach for it at all. It makes my skin look too oily for me especially during the hot summer days. I guess this is only good during the winter! x

  4. Light weight indeed, I see this being best for those who strictly want a light dewier finish. I dont see this as having much or lasting coverage, maybe good for mixing with other foundations but I've yet to touch any such drugstore bb creams because I want more coverage! ^^ Thanks for sharing!

  5. I've been eyeing this, but I doubt I'll buy it. The coverage is a bit too light, and it's disappointing to see that they don't really bother releasing all of the shades here in Australia! (Do they not realise we also have a wide range of skin shades here too!?) :P
Looks great on you though lovely!

  6. I'm disappointed in the coverage- and I'm surprised you say it isn't greasy as that's what most people are saying about it. I wasn't going to try these but tried the testers out in Priceline and didn't like the shade range at all. I'm thinking of going for the Laura Mercier Oil-Free TM or the Lioele Water Drop BB Cream next. :) xx

  7. I am still not sure if I want to try this, maybe if my skin stays good I may switch to a bb cream :)

  8. Thanks for reviewing this
    because I was doubting
    about getting this one or
    not.. I think I'll pass
    because the coverage is
    quite bad :P

  9. Seems like it's not the best in terms of coverage. But at least it feels lightweight on the skin! I bought the Garnier BB Cream for Oily/Combination skin today - looking forward to trying that one out :p

  10. I'm actually a big fan of BB creams and to date have been using the Estee Lauder and Clinique ones. However, I'm looking for a cheaper alternative and this seems perfect for everyday make-up. Thanks for sharing!
