Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Foundation (Review)

Bonjour my lovely readers!

Today I'm going to be sharing my thoughts and reviewing the...
 Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Foundation

I got this on sale at Target for $25 (score!). The normal retail price in Australia is $34.95, so the first downside to this product is that it is on the pricier side but so is most Revlon products in Australia.

In Oz-town, it is available in 7 shades (according to Aus website) and I own it in the lightest shade in Australia, "150 Buff", which is a decent match.

PACKAGING
It's in a glass jar which I think makes it look more fancier and classier ;) It is heavy and not convenient for travelling. I kinda wish that it was in more practical packaging because then maybe it'd be cheaper.
It is also unsanitary as you have to dip your fingers/brush in so I use a popsicle stick to get the product out. xD
When you first purchase the foundation, there is a white plastic lid covering the actual product but I chucked it because it was annoying me every morning. :P

TEXTURE
It certainly has a unique texture. It reminds me of milkshakes (yum) as it has a thick, creamy consistency. If you dip a spoon in it, it will make a hole and then resume its original shape.
Despite it's thick texture, it doesn't feel heavy on the skin and blends easily.

FINISH
I would say it is semi-matte as it is mostly matte but still has a slight glow. Because it is still matte, it can accentuate dry patches so be sure to moisturize.
It looks natural initially but I personally find it starts to look a bit cakey and patchy as the day goes on.

COVERAGE
I love the coverage, I would say it is medium and buildable. It covers my acne and acne scars well with just 2 layers. Below is a "before" picture of me in all my acne-and-scar glory :'( and an "after" picture, where I applied 2 thin layers of the foundation.
APPLICATION
I use my Real Techniques buffing brush and pat 1 layer all over my face and then another layer on my problem areas and then blend.

LASTING POWER
It claims to last 24 hours but honestly, who wears foundation for 24 hours? Ahh foundation claims... I do think it lasts longer than standard foundations. I've worn it up to 8 hours and it still looked decent. I think it did a decent job controlling oil, however, my T-zone did get a bit oily but that's just because I have oily skin.

SCENT
This foundation smells slightly of chemicals, but it's not that bad.

Now to the most important question...
Did this foundation break me out?
NO IT DID NOT! :D Yippee!!!
Just also letting you know I have super sensitive, acne-prone skin. So that's saying something.

Overall Rating: 4.5/5

I'm hunting for a drugstore foundation with medium-high coverage and with a dewy (not oily) finish so if you guys have any recommendations, leave them down below!

Sorry for such a long review, I wanted to make sure I covered all the bases.

xoxo,
Sheri

  1. I've been tempted to get this foundation! Out of curiosity, what is your MAC shade (if you know it)? I too am quite pale.. all those ads about skin cancer has scared the crap out of me :(

    1. Not too sure because I haven't gone to get it checked but I THINK it would be around NC15. -.- I used to think it might be NC20 but I think that's too dark and yellow.

  2. I've heard mostly good things about this foundation. Have you used the normal Revlon Colorstay? I'll probably pick one up even though right now I'm basically drowning in foundation. This is crazy priced in Australia! I don't know if you guys have Neutrogena makeup over there but the Neutrogena Healthy skin foundation is pretty nice. I have combination skin(more oily than dry though) and I don't find it oily. Definitely dewy but not oily. I'd say the coverage is medium and buildable. It covers up most of my skin problems.

    1. No I haven't tried that one, I'm afraid it'll break me out since it has for some people.
We don't have the Neutrogena Healthy Skin but I really want to try it as I've heard good things about it :) Thanks for suggesting it!

  5. I love this foundation! Its formula is just lovely and light, but gives great coverage :) Aww shame that they don't have a colour light enough for your complexion! I agree that the downside is that the packaging doesn't make it very hygienic to use- I wish it was in a tube like the testers are in store :P

  10. I'm so happy to hear you like the formula! We only have 4 shades, its sooo damn sad! I really want to get one for myself, the shade 320 I think that I swatched in store matches me! I want it but I don't know how often I'd use it!

  15. I don't have any recommendations because I prefer light coverage foundations but this one seems like it works a treat! I've been curious about this foundation ever since I saw a first impressions video of it by ItsJudyTime. I'm glad that it didn't break you out, I'm worried about this whenever I try anything new! xx

  17. 150 Buff Chamois isn't the lightest shade available (in my country at least) it's 110 Ivory which I think might match you :)
